Upgrade to LED lighting – Safer and More Energy Efficient

It doesn’t have to break the bank to upgrade your properties to LED lighting.

Property Managers and owners of brand new buildings have it all. Not only are they safer but also incredibly energy efficient when it comes to lamps, light poles, and lighting fixtures.

But, if you manage or own an older building, you also know that it has its charms. What if you could offer renters the charms of an older building, with the safety and efficiency of a brand new one? Upgrade to LED lighting!

By retrofitting your current light fixtures with LED lighting, you can provide better safety with brighter and longer lasting light. At the same time LED’s can save money long term. According to Energy.gov ENERGY STAR rated products use at least 75% less energy and last 25 times longer than incandescent lighting.

7 Reasons to upgrade to LEDs :

  1. The average LED lasts 50,000 operating hours to 100,000 operating hours or more. That is 2-4 times as long as most fluorescent, metal halide, and even sodium vapor lights. It is more than 40 times as long as the average incandescent bulb. Less replacing of bulbs equals to less expenses.
  2. LEDs consume very low amounts of power. Most LED lighting retrofit projects result in a 60-75% improvement in the overall energy efficiency of the facility’s lighting. The less power your lighting consumes the lower your power bill.
  3. The number one hazard when it comes to lighting is the emission of heat. LEDs emit almost no forward heat while traditional bulbs like incandescent convert more than 90% of the total energy used to power them directly into heat. While incandescent bulbs contain filaments that heat up and burn out, LEDs conserve energy and stay cool to the touch.
  4. LEDs turn on and off instantaneously. There is no warm-up period like in the case of metal halide lamps. Additionally, frequent switching doesn’t cause degradation in the device.
  5. LEDs are made of non-toxic materials, unlike neon lighting that use mercury that may pose a danger to the environment. LED is recyclable and also considered “green”, or earth-friendly. LED products are lead and mercury-free, which lead to environmental durability.
  6. In many cases LEDs operate on very low voltages. This makes them suitable for use in outdoor lighting applications where other lighting might not meet code such as with oceanfront homes where the ground level of the property is in a flood zone.
  7. LEDs are able to produce more lumens with less wattage. Which means if you replace a metal halide bulb with an LED, you’ll have a brighter light that also consumes less electricity. This gives you the ability to make exit doors, parking lots, and parking garages safer with more light using less energy.
